Bush Tucker and Wine Tasting Experience

A deep cultural experience into Aboriginal culture and heritage lead by respected local Elder.

Morning Bushtucker Day (5 hours)

Why everyone should take a tour with a local Aboriginal elders. A rich and primally rewarding hands on experience, learning from local Darkinjung elder about a diverse range of Aboriginal culture and traditions. Experience the spirituality of a cleansing ceremony, feel the vibrations touch your soul from the strength of his digeridoo playing.

In the morning visit a local Aboriginal sacred site and hear fascinating bush yarns and significant history of the region, discover the traditions of living off and respecting the land and its flora and fauna.

For lunch enjoy a delicious meal in the lush gardens of Bamboo Buddha. Then in the continue to Firescreek Botanical Winery for a traditional smoking cleansing ceremony, digeridoo display, discussion of edible bush tucker in coolamon, and wine tasting made from fruit, flowers and native botanicals.

Arrive at Firescreek Botanical Winery carpark at 9:30am meet with your Aboriginal guide for the day,  who will provide directions to the sacred site and provide details of the days itinerary.

Return back to Firescreek Botanical Winery for a welcome tasting of your first wine and under the lemon scented gums,  you will experience a smoking cleansing ceremony, Aboriginal story telling and a phenomenal digeridoo display.

A presentation of various Australian Native plants will be provided and depending on the seasonality, tastings of the Australian native plants will be provided and Firescreeks’ winemaker will guide you through wine tasting and discuss how Australia native flora and other botanicals are used to make these unique wines.

Full day package including sacred site visit, lunch and afternoon bushtucker and wine tasting.

Minimum 6 adults for tour to run. Private tours available upon request.

Please note that one week notice required for this tour and a minimum of 6 adults or 4 adults and 3 children for the tour to commence. If minimum numbers are not reached within 48 hours prior to your tour, we will contact you to see if you would like to rescheduled or be notified when the tour will next be running.  If your group is smaller than the minimum numbers, private tours are available on request.

Water bottle, hat, sunscreen, wet weather rain coat in the event of rain.

Full day tour requires own vehicle for transportation to sacred site, lunch venue and return to winery.

For special dietary requirements, please advise at time of making booking.

Tour will depart on time. Those who are late will miss the visit to the culturally significant sacred site and will have to join the tour at 12:00 at Bamboo Buddha for lunch.

4 days to 1 week notice required to book the tour.

Afternoon Bushtucker (1.5 hours)

This afternoon workshop you will experience an unforgettable display of Aboriginal culture. A rich and primally rewarding hands on experience, learning from local Darkinjung Elder about a diverse range of Aboriginal culture and traditions. Experience the spirituality of a cleansing ceremony, feel the vibrations touch your soul from the strength of his digeridoo playing and enjoy wine tasting under the lemon scented gums.

After the smoking cleansing ceremony, and phenomenal digeridoo display, you will be shown and where seasonally possible be able to taste Australian Native plants. Firescreeks’ winemaker will also guide you through wine tasting and discuss how Australian native flora and other botanicals are used to make these unique wines.

Arrive at the cellar door at 2:00pm where you will be met by a local Darkinjung Elder who will welcome you with a spiritually cleansing smoking ceremony. A smoking ceremony is an Aboriginal custom that involves burning Australian native plants to produce smoke. This will be followed by a masterful didgeridoo display, a wondrous Aboriginal instrument crafted from nature, that echos a vibrant and primal sound. A discussion about Australian natives displayed in a handmade Aboriginal coolamon bowl with also be provided and where seasonally possible, guests will be able to try this Australian bushtucker.
